Abstract Sculpture S9 Orange and Grey Paint MDF Construct Limited Edition 1/1
Regular price £400.00 Save £-400.00Product Description:
This a one of a kind small handmade abstract sculpture which has been carved out of MDF Wood, sealed, painted and then given an extra protective clear coat.
I like to re use discarded material (card, paper, wood etc) in the production of my sculptures. Both as a form of recycling but also as a way of showing people that even the most unloved object can be given new life. The S9 sculpture has been made from MDF boards which where left over from a piece of public art I made previously called the Big Red Space Rocket. The wood sheets where glued together then sanded into shape.
About the Artwork/Design:This is one of a series of abstract sculptures I have entitled S which stands for ship, seed and small sculpture. This series of sculptures has a central role in my creative process meaning most projects lead from it and back to it in some way. Inspired by everything from pebbles to spaceships to my dads sailing dinghies. The origins of the sculpture go right back to some of the earliest drawings I did as a child.
The use of brightly coloured paint was inspired by a sheet of wrapping paper I designed and the traditional brightly coloured ores used in canoeing.

'People with dyslexia are often much better working visually or in three dimensions. For myself this is certainly the case....'
Find out how I turned a small handheld model into a two storey high piece of public art.
"the sculpture has become my structure. Something which I can make sense of the world through where projects can begin and return to. "
