About the Artwork/Design:

This is Ray the robot. Inspired by a love of sci-fi films, animations and Japanese design I created Ray in the same way all of my work is developed by manipulating/playing with basic structures and colours. In Rays case this meant using a grid format similar to building something out of lego bricks.

About the Design: My life pretty much rotates around tea. I am after all a 'Yorkshire lad' so not too surprising. I can't fully imagine a world without it! So I've made this print for those who feel the same way. Inspiration for the design has come from a number of sources including early Soviet posters, Mid Century Graphic Design and Art Deco tea cups.

About the design: I created a series of designs using this dot technique. I thought it would be a fun way to explore pattern and form and develop artwork that would appeal to young children. I hope one day to develop these into an early learning children's book. This polar bear illustration is probably my favorite as it looks like he's lost in a blizzard of smarties.

The design came about through experimentation with repetitive circular patterns and simple colour combinations. I was inspired by a range of different influences from Russian folk art to Islamic mosaics. In the end though it was the memory of a little Robin who used to visit me that became the main influence.
