Bold Designs Inspired by Art History
Abstract Forms: Traditional Japanese illustration meets Art Deco Font
This design emerged from my own sculptural projects, translating 3D geometric forms into a two-dimensional explosion of celebration. Drawing inspiration from traditional Japanese firework illustrations to create a radial symmetrical design. By layering these sculptural outlines against a night-sky aesthetic with elegant Art Deco typography in the centre, I’ve created a card that is both playful and sophisticated. It’s an artistic choice for anyone who appreciates fine art, abstract design, and unique craftsmanship.
Chocolate Cake: 1960s Pop Art meets Bauhaus Geometry
This design is a playful celebration of the ultimate birthday treat. I’ve blended the bold, graphic energy of 1960s Pop Art and classic comic books with the structured geometric patterns of the 1930s Bauhaus movement. By using high-contrast colours and striking shapes, I’ve transformed a simple chocolate cake into a sophisticated piece of graphic art. It’s a vibrant, modern card for those who love bold aesthetics and a touch of nostalgia.
Bauhaus Record Player: A Birthday Tribute to Walter Gropius
This design is inspired by a unique moment in art history. For founder Walter Gropius’s birthday, the Bauhaus lecturers each created an individual artwork exploring "communication," based on a newspaper photograph of a crowd listening to a record player. My card is a modern interpretation of that creative challenge, reimagining the scene with clean lines and a minimalist aesthetic. It’s a thoughtful gift for music lovers, history buffs, and fans of design heritage.
